Well, 2017 is almost over and we have to say that it’s been one heck of a year! Some things planned…some nice surprises. As we look back over the year, we can honestly say that it has been our most exciting one yet.
To kick off the year, we got a call from Bass Pro Shops and Badfish.tv and they wanted a cool camper that they could use in their cross-country Outbound tour. The basic premise: 3 guys, 1 truck, a ton of fishing gear and kayaks and the SylvanSport GO to carry it all around. The catch? They had to visit all 76 Bass Pro Shops in the country in 60 days. We were proud to be part of their 20,000 mile adventure from Florida to Alaska and happy that the GO was able to carry their gear, give them a place to sleep and handle all types of weather, road conditions and abuse…without even a flinch.
Next up, we partnered with our friends at The Dyrt for the #GetOutAndGO campaign where we traveled the country via social media and gave away a GO to one lucky winner at the end of it all. We got to partner with a lot of familiar faces in the outdoor industry, put together over a month of daily giveaways and find some really cool outdoor destinations all across the country.
Summer approached, school let out and Earl Hunter, Vice President of Sales, picked up his 7 year old son from school and they set out for a 13,000 mile cross-country road trip, Dillon and Earl on the GO. This was great on so many levels. Following along on a father/son as they spent 2 months traveling, seeing sights and creating memories that will last a lifetime.
With all of the exciting things that happened in 2017, one of them stands out as the highlight of the year: Camp Dark Sky the very first SylvanSport GO owner rally! It was a weekend of live music, outdoor adventures, and of course, the total solar eclipse. What made Camp Dark Sky so special was that it was all about celebrating our family of GO owners who made the trip to our home in Western North Carolina from as far away as Arizona. It was a truly special weekend where we got to experience the community and friendship of so many of you out there living the GO life. It was a touching event for all of us here at SylvanSport and when we think back on the year, it is one that has created lifelong friendships and memories.
So, as we countdown the last moments of 2017, we can’t help but look forward to 2018. Already, there are so many exciting things in the works that, while we hate to wrap up such a fun year, we are chomping at the bit to get the new year started. In a couple of weeks we’ll be breaking ground on a brand new facility for SylvanSport, there are new products in the works that we’ll be releasing all year long and of course we’re excited to see all of the cool GO adventures that all of you share with us!
